Golf Practice Net Buying Guide: Mini, Home and Pro Sizes Compared

by Good Round Supply

The right golf practice net starts with the space you can use safely, the golfers who will use it, and the protection the room needs. For a compact space, start with the Mini or Home frame. For a wider target, compare the Pro, Pro 8, Pro 9, Pro 10, and Pro XL. A larger golf hitting net does not replace full-swing clearance or room-specific containment.

The Net Return Home vs Pro: what does the extra $100.00 buy?

The Home has a 7 foot wide, 7 foot high frame. The standard Pro adds 1 foot of width and 6 inches of height, with the same listed 3 foot 6 inch frame depth. At the prices checked below, that larger target costs $100.00 more. Choose between them by the space and target size you want, rather than assuming the Home cannot handle serious practice.

Your purchase Home Standard Pro
Net only, suitable hitting surface already owned Home net, $695.00 Pro net, $795.00
Net and turf practice package Home package, $1,399.00 Pro package, $1,499.00

USD prices checked October 27, 2026, before shipping and tax. Both package examples include the supplier confirmed 10 by 6 foot Pro Turf, so downsizing the net does not shrink the included turf footprint. Confirm all included protection and accessories on the selected product page.

Choose Home when its frame and target meet your measured practice needs. Choose the standard Pro when you want the extra target width and height and have the clear space for it. Neither frame measurement establishes room for your full swing. Pro 8, Pro 9, Pro 10, and Pro XL are different models, compare their dimensions below.

Compare the manufacturer specifications. This is a specification comparison, not a claim of hands on testing.

Choose a ball-return net and your purchase path

Want a golf net with ball return? Net Return's practice nets are the starting point in this comparison. Choose by measured space and the exact net model; the net's frame size is not the total area needed to hit golf balls.

  • Already have suitable turf or a hitting mat: Shop practice nets and compare net-only products.
  • Need a net and turf together: Use the net-and-mat setup guide to compare packages and separate purchases. Current Net Return packages include 10-by-6-foot Pro Turf, so include that floor area in the plan.
  • Want a projected simulator image: Compare a compatible screen upgrade or complete bay. Adding a screen changes how the setup is used; do not assume the same ball-return behavior as the net-only configuration.
  • Need a portable setup: Distinguish a dismantled net that can be carried and stored from a pop-up or fold-flat net. Check the selected model's assembly instructions, packed size, and carrying arrangements before choosing it for daily storage.

Frame size is not room size

Leave enough clear space for the golfer, the club, the ball path, and any side or overhead protection. Test a comfortable full-driver swing for every intended golfer. Account for ceilings, walls, lights, fans, doors, vehicles, furniture, and anything else that can enter the swing area.

A wider net can give you a larger target, but it does not replace safe swing clearance or room-specific containment. Shot pattern, distance from the net, handedness, skill level, and the room itself determine whether you should add side barriers, a No Fly Zone accessory, or other protection.

For a more complete measurement process, use our golf simulator room measurement guide. The same clear-space principles apply to a practice-net setup.

Net only or package?

Choose a net-only listing when you already have a suitable hitting surface and any required containment. Choose a package when its listed components match more of the setup you need. Package contents vary, so compare the exact included items on the current product page rather than assuming every package contains the same mat or accessories.

Start with these package options:

Common golf practice net questions

What size golf practice net should I buy?

Choose only after measuring the clear practice area and testing every golfer's full swing. The net frame must fit with space for the golfer, club, ball path, accessories, and any required side or overhead protection. Use the comparison table above to eliminate frames that do not fit before comparing features.

Can I hit a driver into a golf practice net?

Use only clubs, distances, and ball types allowed by the current manufacturer instructions for the exact net. Confirm the frame is assembled correctly, the net and attachments are undamaged, every golfer has clear swing space, and the room contains expected misses and rebounds.

Is a golf net and mat package better than buying separately?

A package can simplify the shopping list when its current included mat, net, and protection match your room. Buying separately can make sense when you already own a suitable hitting surface or need a different mat size. Compare the exact bill of materials rather than the product photograph.

Do I need side or overhead protection?

That depends on the room, golfer-to-net distance, handedness, skill level, shot pattern, and exposed surroundings. Plan for misses and high shots rather than only centered contact. Confirm every accessory is compatible with the exact net model and variant.

Add protection deliberately

Accessories are model- and setup-dependent. Confirm compatibility with your exact net and variant before ordering.

A practical way to decide

  1. Measure the clear room and test every golfer's full swing.
  2. Eliminate frames that do not fit with safe clearance.
  3. Choose the target width and height that suit the room and shot pattern.
  4. Decide whether a net-only listing or a package covers more of what you need.
  5. Add compatible side or overhead protection where the room requires it.
  6. Recheck the selected variant, included components, delivery estimate, and return terms before checkout.
